The Mind Over Matter Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
This Scholarship was established in 2021. The scholarship was created by Christina Fuentes
who received scholarships upon graduating high school in 2014 which built the bridge she
needed to be able to attend college, as she worked through college and developed her mind to
compete in the corporate world, she found herself battling a mental health condition and
watching her peers sharing similar personal battles quietly due to the stigma around the subject.
This is when she discovered that the mental health space was the cause she wanted to support
as this was the toughest battle she had ever faced - “a battle that the eyes can't see, and the
mouth can hardly explain”. Christina knows working through any mental health issue requires
support and the courage grab their life by the reins and work to cultivate the ABILITY to grow
past those moments!
Donating to this fund means you are donating toward helping a high school senior attend
college. A high school senior who wanted to give up but re-sparked their passion to
pursue their dreams. A high school senior who is struggling financially to the point where college
may feel impossible, but they know an education is the key to a better life
So join in 2022 to not just raise awareness but do something real for someone who deserves a
better future!!

hard work, focus, dedication to achieve your dreams. She faced a tough life leading up to that
momentous moment in her life, . “Financial hardship struck my youth and teenage years, but it
was mental health that took my world by storm in my adult life”. This is what brought Christina to
creating the Mind Over Matter Mental Health Awareness scholarship. Christina awards this
scholarship annually, raising funds for it while balancing all her personal and professional
responsibilities. Some may say I have ‘a lot going on’, I say, there’s no better time than the
present to make a difference. Although I’m still a young adult, I want to be sure to get a head
start on making an impact on the world, starting with the youth in my own backyard.
